Documenting Kingdom Kids: A Heartfelt Journey in Thailand
In the north of Thailand, near Chiang Mai, Kingdom Kids was founded by two Australians, Robyn and Terry Collins, more than 20 years ago. After spending decades in Thailand serving God in various ways, they felt called to return to fostering and caring for children with disabilities—children often forgotten and ignored by Thai culture and religion due to their perceived karma.
We have known the Collins for a few years now, and one Sunday morning, on an impulse, we asked if we could accompany them on a visit to Thailand and document what Kingdom Kids was all about.
Simao filmed, Chris took photos, and held the boom mic. And so, we spent one week capturing the inspiring story of Kingdom Kids. Our mission was to create a documentary that would not only showcase the home’s incredible work but also highlight its origins, vision, and how God has been present through it all—from the beginning to the future.
To say it was a special week would be an understatement. It was a transformative experience for both of us. Over the course of the week, we spent nearly every waking hour following their daily routines: the school runs, meal preparations, shopping at the local markets, morning worship, and playtime. They were incredibly generous with their time, allowing us to immerse ourselves in their lives and capture everything through our eyes and lenses.
What we saw, smelled, and heard will stay with us forever: a place of faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
